8th February 2008
Welcome to our tenth year of Shiningfriends
concerts.
We thought it was appropriate that to celebrate our anniversary in
November we invite one of the world’s guitar greats . So we are pleased
to announce ALBERT LEE & HOGANS HEROES will be joining us on 8th
November with his country blues rock & roll style. He’s the guitarist’s
guitar player whose unique fast finger-picking style has made him one of
the instrument’s most entertaining and innovative exponents.
Our year’s begun with a triumphant return of STEVE KNIGHTLEY
promoting his Cruel River album and had all and everyone of us
enthralled and transfixed with his story-telling songs. Our next concert
features once again a powerful showman and engaging writer when we see
through the eyes and listen through the ears of MARTYN JOSEPH. The
remaining artists performing this year are all listed under the
events and all tickets are now
available for purchase.
Three recording projects occupy Paul’s mind this year. The proposed
new album following Quiet Gifts, he hopes to have ready in the Autumn.
An album of new recordings of his early songs is being prepared with
Dave Lang on regular trips to Scotland and a 10 years compilation of
songs contributed by the many guests who have graced our stage over the
last decade. Paul’s own song is currently being worked on with Bretagne
guitar legend Dan Ar Braz and will be the title track called We Sing.
The proceeds from the sale of this CD will be put towards further
refurbishment of stage, lighting and presentation and we hope the whole
presentation will be a gem to own.
On a personal note, Paul has achieved two ambitions in a very short
space of time …. performing at the Town and Symphony Halls in Birmingham
by virtue of his new song Children in Snow, which has been adapted and
arranged by John Barber.
May we take this opportunity to say thank you for all your emails
saying how much you enjoy your evenings at Shiningfriends. We enjoy
organising them , seeing everyone and look upon our audience as an
extended family in the love of sharing music. Without all of you, there
would be no point.
Take care,
Paul & Jane |
